ACC CVA Project

The Association of Chiropractic Colleges at its annual meeting in March 2004 directed an ad-hoc committee to be formed for the purposes of developing and presenting information on the subject of “cervical spine adjusting and vertebral artery issues”. Dr. Gerard W. Clum (Life Chiropractic College West) was asked to chair this ad-hoc committee.

The committee became known as the ACC CVA committee and began the process of developing a presentation designed to bring the latest information about the concerns and issues related to cervical spine adjusting, the Vertebral artery and cerebrovascular accident (CVA).

After a development period of two years an initial lecture was presented to representatives of the ACC member institutions. The feedback of these representatives was incorporated into the presentation and the modified presentation was offered to the Deans/Directors of the clinics of the ACC member institutions and programs. Following feedback from the clinic directors input was sought from other interested parties in the profession with known expertise in this area. Finally a presentation was made to the annual meeting of the Federation of Chiropractic Licensing Boards (FCLB) May, 2006.

The final lecture as modified throughout this process was videotaped and prepared for presentation in DVD format.
